The 2019 IIC Perth is a clinical training course in childhood infectious diseases, being held in Western Australia for a second time after the success of the first event in 2016. It is based on the popular ESPID-Oxford course - Hot Topics in Infection & Immunity in Children (IIC Oxford) - concept, targeting attendees from Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The course will be organised and sponsored by the Telethon Kids Institute's Wesfarmers Centre of Vaccines & Infectious Diseases.

Hot Topics in Infection & Immunity in Children - Perth (IIC Perth) will bring together an international faculty of leading experts providing a current and authoritative update on the prevention, diagnosis and management of childhood infectious diseases in Asia and the Pacific.

The target audience is trainees in paediatrics, specialist trainees in paediatric infectious diseases, clinical research fellows, clinicians caring for children with infections, and research scientists working in the areas of infectious diseases, immunology, microbiology and public health.

The aim is to provide a growing cohort of medical professionals with the latest knowledge and best evidence to prevent, diagnose and cure disease. As leaders in their field, the course participants are then in the best position to train their staff, as well as junior and future colleagues in practising best evidence-medicine.

By bringing the concept of the annual ESPID-Oxford course (IIC Oxford) to Australia, the aim is to substantially grow the cohort of trained participants in Asia and the Pacific region.
