The Sudan Children’s Heart Society has begun screening children in Khartoum following the donation of a Hand Held Echo Device (GE Vscan) by SAMA, the Sudanese American Medical Association, in December 2015.

Professor Sulafa Ali, Secretary General of the Sudan Children’s Heart Society, reported that on January 14 they are also planning to conduct a pilot screening in South Darfur, a region that bears 30% of the RHD burden in Sudan, and further screenings in Kurdufan.

SAMA have produced a video about the donation, and more details can also be found on the SAMA website.
