WHF policy statement highlights burden of RHD among adolescents
On the penultimate day of the World Health Assembly, the World Heart Federation – a founding member of RHD Action – delivered a policy statement that highlighted the burden of rheumatic heart disease among adolescents.
Delivered during discussions on the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health, the statement stressed that in some settings people under 30 carry over a third of the burden of cardiovascular diseases, most often due to conditions that begin in childhood and adolescence such as RHD.
