Cardiac education day for Aboriginal health workers

The purpose of this one-day workshop is to increase participants' knowledge about cardiovascular disease and other cardiac conditions, including tests and operations/procedures that patients may undergo. The workshop is specifically for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Practice Nurses, Health Workers and Liaison Officers.

It will cover:

  • anatomy and physiology of the heart
  • angiography and heart surgery
  • risk factors
  • rheumatic heart disease
  • heart failure
  • cardiac medications

Time: 8.30am to 4.30pm (registration from 7.30am)
Venue: Bryan Emmerson Seminar Room (4th floor, blue lifts), Princess Alexandra Hospital, Ipswich Road, Woolloongabba, Brisbane, Queensland
Cost: Free
