The global RHD community was saddened by the death of Professor Gene Stollerman in September 2014 at the age of 93. A pioneer in the management of RF and RHD, Professor Stollerman was involved in critical studies of secondary prophylaxis at New York City’s convalescent centre for RF, Irvington House. His important 1952 publication on a new repository form of penicillin, benzathine penicillin G, marked a turning point in understanding and delivering secondary prophylaxis for rheumatic fever. bit.ly/1A6IPLU
