The Emerging Leaders Programme has been created by the World Heart Federation to form and develop a long-term cadre of experts who collaborate, research, and act to reduce premature mortality from cardiovascular disease (CVD) globally by at least 25% by 2025 as targeted by the World Heart Federation and World Health Organization ('25by25').

An article focused on the two-year follow-up of the Global Rheumatic Heart Disease Registry (the REMEDY study) was recently published in Circulation – the peer-reviewed journal of the American Heart Association has identified that patients with rheumatic heart disease living in low- and lower-middle–income countries enrolled in the REMEDY study had a poor prognosis and were at an increased risk for high mortality and morbidity despite a young age, according to follow-up data and major clinical outcomes.

The British Heart Foundation Centre on Population Approaches for Non-Communicable Disease Prevention, a collaborating centre with the World Health Organization, is accepting applications for an exciting six-day event on NCDs delivered by internationally renowned experts in the field through keynote lectures, fora, group sessions and one-to-one tutorials.
