RHD Action Small Grant Update: Zambia

Last year, RHD Action awarded one of its small grants to Drs John Musuku, Mwansa Ketty Lubeya, and Mercy Imakando at University Teaching Hospitals in Lusaka, Zambia for a project aimed at increasing awareness to promote sexual and reproductive health among adolescents and women living with rheumatic heart disease (RHD).

RHD Action Small Grant Program Update: Kenya

Ms Dilys Kemunto Nyariki, a sixth-year medical student at Moi University, School of Medicine in Eldoret, Kenya was the project lead on behalf of the Eldoret Chapter of the Young Professionals Chronic Disease Network (YPCDN) for the project entitled, “Hearts to Hearts: A Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) Awareness Campaign.” This is the second RHD Action Small Grant recipient to complete their project and a report of their accomplishments follows.

RHD Action Small Grant Program Update: Fiji

Launched this year, the RHD Action Small Grants Program funded five project proposals in low-and-middle income countries across the globe to support groups who are already addressing the work of RHD and to bring the work of key RHD stakeholders under the RHD Action banner. Successful applicants were awarded $2000 with the expectation that that the activity would be completed within six-months.

New updates planned for TIPs – Seeking Chapter Reviewers

RHD Action are updating our Tools for Implementing RHD Control Programs (TIPs) resource. TIPs was first published in 2014 and provides a framework for program managers and RHD program staff to develop control programs. TIPs has now be used worldwide to help structure decisions about program design and care delivery.
